Cold and flu season is here – yes, I know - obvious statement of the day!  However, this provides an excuse to turn to nature to boost our immunity and reduce the severity of colds and flus.

As soon as I feel that scratch in my throat, I pop the kettle on and make a cup of my favourite brew YEP Tea - traditionally used to ward off colds and flu's.

The ingredients in YEP are yarrow, elderflower and peppermint. The anti-inflammatory properties of yarrow will calm your body’s inflammatory reaction to the cold virus. It will reduce mild fevers and its antiseptic properties effectively fight infections and viruses.

Elderflower does a great job of reducing the inflammation of the mucous membrane and clearing up existing mucous.  And peppermint clears the airways making it easier to breathe and its cooling properties are ideal for fighting fever.

YEP tea is super simple to make using dried herbs - send me a pm for a copy of my homemade recipe.

However if you prefer a ready-made solution there's many to choose from. I love Heart Therapeutics Yep T, which also has the added benefit of Thyme - a herb that's packed with vitamin c and will hep clear a blocked lower respiratory tract. I'm lucky my local homewares store supplies a selection of the beautiful Heart Therapeutics Tea.

YEP Tea isn't suitable for small children or pregnant women... and I'm not guaranteeing it will work on man flu either! We all know that bad boy is much worse than any other type of flu – so good luck with that!
